Research Record Coordinator - 2nd shift

Department Description: This position, working in Health Information Management, will support Research Records Management.

This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Friday 3-11:30pm.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Record Control Supervisor, this position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the record flow relating to requests for research and review for both internal and external customers. Will ensure that IRB and/or other approvals are completed. This position requires extensive interaction with medical staff and others involved in the record review process. Incumbent must have strong writing and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Receives and assess all requests for research and review to ensure the correct approvals are in place and the correct volumes have been requested.
  2. Assists with the on-line record request process when applicable.
  3. Locates and provides any volumes that have been signed out to other requesters to assure 100% of records are provided.
  4. Assists with ensuring the record is complete; e.g. contains required information.
  5. Facilitates the movement of records when needed by others.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or GED required,High School diploma or GED preferred
  2. 0-1 years related work experience required.
  3. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

  1. Written Communications: Ability to read, and write in English in order to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with patients, families and other medical center staff; and respond to basic questions.
  2. Oral Communications: Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions.
  3. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.
  4. Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
  5. Customer Service: Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
