SR Social Worker- 3K Sign on Bonus- Addiction Psychiatry Service


Department Description: As part of an unprecedented organizational initiative, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is now offering up to $3,000 in sign on bonuses for this full time Sr Social Worker in Addiction Psychiatry Services.

Important Details:
Bonuses are paid out within the first 30 days of employment and are subject to applicable taxes. Full time status at BIDMC is considered for schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part time status is 20 to 29 hours per week Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for sign on bonuses. (Current BILH candidates- restrictions apply)

The primary responsibilities of the Addiction Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) are to practice clinical social work at an advanced level independent of regular clinical supervision and be responsible for psychosocial, assessment, treatment, and follow-up for patients and families enrolled in the outpatient Buprenorphine LINK Clinic and the outpatient buprenorphine Clinic located within Healthcare Associates (HCA), as well as consultation and education for substance use disorders on the inpatient services. The ACSW will also play an integral role as a core member of the Addiction Psychiatry team in developing programs throughout BIDMC.

The ACSW will collaborate with physicians, nurses, internal and external case managers, other community agencies and providers, and other health care professionals to implement total patient care.

Job Summary: Practices clinical social work at an advanced level independent of regular clinical supervision and is responsible for psychosocial screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients and families in assigned care area. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, internal and external case managers, other community agencies and providers, and other health care professionals to implement total patient care. Reports to the social work manager/manager of clinical service area.

Department Specific Job Responsibilities:
  1. Practices clinical social work at an advanced level independent of regular clinical supervision and be responsible for psychosocial, assessment, treatment, and follow-up for patients and families enrolled in the outpatient Addiction Psychiatry Clinic.
  2. Provides consultation and education for substance use disorders on the inpatient services.
  3. Conducts group therapy sessions as a part of a novel level of care soon to launch in the Division of Addiction Psychiatry.
  4. Plays an integral role as a core member of the Addiction Psychiatry team in developing programs throughout BIDMC.
  5. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, internal and external case managers, other community agencies and providers, and other health care professionals inside and outside of BIDMC to implement total patient care.
  6. Meets regularly with the Director of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry for professional development as a member of this multidisciplinary team.
Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Screen and triage patients who request service, are referred, or meet screening criteria. Conduct psychosocial assessments and provides indicated counseling, psychotherapy and group services. Assist with discharge planning and/or outpatient continuity of care. Provide consultation to the team around patient management, risk management and ethical issues. Document assessments and care plans.
  2. Identifies practice and systems issues; may develop new modes of approaching systems and/or clinical problems. May initiate or participate in research. Participates in Departmental and interdisciplinary LEAN/ CQI activities.
  3. Seek opportunities and set goal for professional development. Lead segments of the team's work. Act as a team leader for projects. Assume some responsibility for conducting seminars, primary supervision of social work staff and/or students, formal interdisciplinary teaching. Serve as a mentor and/or training resource to less experienced staff. Support environment of idea sharing and feedback.
  4. Collaborates and consults with patients, families, professionals, and providers in- and outside the hospital to develop and implement care across the continuum. Refers to and collaborates with interdepartmental specialists and programs, outside agencies, facilities, payers, and other relevant community resources.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling required required.
  2. License Lic Indep Clinical Social Work required., or LMHC Lic Mental Health Counselor required
  3. 3-5 years related work experience required.
  4. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

  7. Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
  8. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
Age based Competencies:
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Youth: 6 months to 16 years, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.
Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
